Halloween Ideas

Anyone who knows me knows I’m obsessed with mermaids. Ever since I was a young child, their tails have fascinated me. My obsession of mermaids is so bad that pretty much every birthday or Christmas I receive a mermaid souvenir of some sorts. My friends even send me pictures of mermaid shirts, quotes, basically anything mermaid via Pinterest or text message. It is safe to say that I have a problem with my love of the mysterious siren. I don’t care though, I would shout it from the rooftops that I think mermaids are real. 80% of the ocean hasn’t been discovered; there is absolutely no way mermaids don’t exist. It’s logic people! Oh, and don’t even get me started on those scary mermaids The Discover Channel portrays. I don’t know what those things are but the are DEFINITELY not mermaids..

Sorry, I realize I just went on a rant. Anyway, I am going to be a mermaid this Halloween. I have my outfit ready and everything but I’m going to wait to show you all until the actual day. I do have a cute little craft I would like to share though. In the picture above you see a plastic fork with silver glitter scattered all over. That ladies and gentlemen is a dinglehopper. I’m going to wear it in my hair so proudly this Halloween, I shall sleep with it resting atop my head.

I really love Halloween and I know a lot of you do too, but some of y’all are stressing over what you’re going to be. I can maybe help out. What I always do in order to decide what I’m going to be is look at my interests and obsessions. So, I really like mermaids, dolphins, Harry Styles, zombies, spaghetti, cake, newly pregnant Blake Lively, and the Ramones. I haven’t been a mermaid since the prime age of 8 so I thought I’d bring sexy back (literally, I’m hardly wearing anything for this costume) and take a new twist on mermaid costumes.

You should be comfortable in what you’re going to wear so, if you’re wearing about 30% clothes and 70% of your skin is out and about and you know that’s not your style, don’t wear it. It’s okay to wear more clothes on Halloween. Never do something that makes you feel uncomfortable just because everyone else is doing it. There are plenty of outfits that don’t require just one patch of material that are still super cute. I was Aphrodite last year and it was a long dress. I loved it, I was warm, and I got many compliments. Do you boo boo.

Long story short, brainstorm what you like and you can make you’re own outfit. I recommend going to Goodwill, Plato’s Closet and craft stores such as Hobby Lobby or Michael’s. You can find your essentials there and make your masterpiece of a Halloween outfit in the comfort of your own home.
