Skincare Routine (for sensitive and dry skin)

If you’re anything like me then you know the struggles of being brave enough to try new skincare products. Will it burn my skin (happened before, had a chemical burn on my face..)? Will it break out my skin? Will it clog my pores? Will it dry out my skin? The questions go on and on BUT I have finally found a skincare routine that works for my poor fragile skin. Take notes if you want clear, moisturized skin!

Step one- Take your makeup off every night ladies and gents. Don’t even think about it. Just do it. I have two makeup wipes that work wonders for me and make my skin feel rejuvenated.

  1. SkinLab Lift and Firm Makeup Remover Towelettes – these wont remove your makeup entirely but they have collagen and elastin in the product so it has anti-aging ingredients in the product which gets an A+ for me.
  2. WetnWild Makeup Remover Towelettes– for the leftover the first makeup remover didn’t get off, this will. Very affordable and safe for sensitive skin.

Step two- I do these products 3-4 times a week (not every day because my baby skin can’t handle it)

  1. Murad Essential C Cleanser – use this in the shower, it helps take the day off.
  2. Naked Earth EsScentials Rose Water Mist– use this after you dry your face off from the shower (it is locally made here in Nashville and I just love how refreshing it is).
  3. Vasanti BrightenUp! Exfoliating Cleanser – this brightens your skin like no other and is not harsh on your skin either because sometimes exfoliants are.
  4. Promise Organic Coconut Milk Facial Lotion – safe for sensitive and dry skin, smells great and works amazing!
  5. Tarte Maracuja Oil – use this only when face feels super dry because this is insane moisture for you!

Step three- Only use these once a week preferably a Sunday to take the week off

  1. Freeman Anti-Stress Mask Dead Sea Minerals and Freeman Charcoal and Black Sugar Polishing Mask – I feel so good using this, just keep this on for 30 minutes and wash off with warm water. You’ll feel brand new.

I hope this helped you sensitive and dry skin girls find a routine that works for you! Let me know in the comments if you have any more suggestions, I love trying new things. UPDATE:: I’ve been using Pond’s Dry Skin Cream Facial Moisturizer and so far so great BUT I like to try products out for about a month before I recommend and I’ve only been using it for a few days.

Modern Day Disco Queen

Buffalo Exchange, have you heard of it? I hadn’t either until the one opened here in Nashville, TN. It’s an eclectic mix of new or gently used clothes, shoes, bags, etc. When I went there for the first time I quickly found about four VERY cute tops for a little under $50 before tax.

I wanted to highlight the top featured in this post because I loved the way it looked with my hair and makeup; it was so modern day disco queen *cue ABBA’s ‘Dancing Queen’ song*.

A cute gummy bear ft. Music City Light beer.

Top- Buffalo Exchange by Ecote (looks like it’s a brand from Urban Outfitters)

Jeans- Hollister

Shoes- DSW Warehouse by Audrey Brooke OBSESSED with these shoes by the way!

I can honestly say I felt like a disco queen this night! I used to only like Plato’s Closet or Goodwill for used clothes but Buffalo Exchange takes the cake. It is a little pricier than the other places BUT their items are way better maintained and usually more expensive type of brands. You also get a variety of styles and there are countless options to make the perfect outfit. I can’t wait to find more treasures at Buffalo Exchange next time I visit.

A little side note to end this post is a team of researchers at reviews.com tested out 23 natural deodorants formulas to see what was the most effective. Their time, effort, and dedication is amazing when you read this article. It’s basically a guide of what to look for or what to avoid when purchasing natural deodorant. Check out this super informative article here The Best Natural Deodorant and you will think twice before you put any deodorant on your body (trust me). Thanks reviews.com for sharing this with me!

Jeff & NYX —My Go To’s

If you have ever had a conversation with me about makeup then you know I love me some Jeffree Star and NYX. They are my favorite brands and both have such great quality. Jeff is unique and eccentric with his makeup and NYX is so affordable; both make me happy and feel beautiful so here is a makeup look I created with both brands.

I just had to show the packaging off Jeff’s because it was BEAUTIFUL!! These are some of the newest products that are out right now from Jeffree Star Cosmetics x Manny MUA who I also adore. The Skin Frost in Eclipse and the Velour Liquid Lipstick in Daddy (pictured) are both still available here. I loved the way this highlight made me shine to the heavens. Daddy looked great too which I was kind of nervous about because it was so dark but it works well for my pale skin as well as darker complected peeps. Ok, y’all for just 10 bucks you can get this here eyeshadow palette at Ulta. The NYX Lid Lingerie Shadow Palette is AMAZING and my go to. I don’t normally do a dark lid. I’m a more neutral kind of gal so if you can relate buy it here or go to Ulta…right now!

I had to show how the Skin Frost in Eclipse was stunning and so pigmented. (unedited so you can see the true effect)

I used every color in the shadow palette. This photo is filtered…obviously. ;D

I’ve been trying to wear less eyeliner lately so I haven’t been wangin’ it.

I hope if you buy these products, you love them as much as I do! Oh, I had to share that I just went to Buffalo Exchange here in Nashville for the first time and I got some really cute tops that were reasonably priced. Maybe that shall be my next post. ;p

Naked Earth EsScentials

Y’all. These spa products are my fave and the best part is they are locally made here in the surrounding area of Nashville! I love shopping local and I try to use products that have natural ingredients so when I stumbled upon a booth at Oktoberfest here in Nashville last October, I was hooked. I met the owner who is the artisan behind these amazing products and still remember how customer friendly she was. Oh, and another great part is she ships to her customers so you don’t have to be a Nashvillian to enjoy these products. Take a look at a few of my favorite products!

I am obsessed with Caribbean Queen Artisan Soap that smells like coconut, lime, and mint all mixed in one and my goodness does it nourish your skin. I have very dry skin so normally bar soaps dry it out even more but nope not this one. I’m already on my second bar.

This Rose Water Hydrating Mist is the best. I spritz it on my face after I shower or when I feel like my skin needs a pick me up. It’s instantly refreshens and cools my skin down all while making my sensitive skin thankful it doesn’t break me out.

So, I have a whole bunch of wax melts but I’ve never had a wax melt smell up my whole house as quickly as the Chipotle Caramel Wax Melt has. I was hesitant about the scent because I’m not a huge fan of caramel scented stuff but it has such vanilla and sweet undertones so I naturally LOVED it. It’s not available on her website yet but should be soon.

Last but not least, my most favorite sugar scrub prouduct I’ve ever used. The Coffee Face and Sugar Body Scrub is my holy grail. I couldn’t believe how scented and yummy it smelled. It helped my dry skin feel rejuvenated and I use it about 3x a week to keep the lasting smoothness.

Here are all the products I was sent and I loved them all but wanted to only mention my absolute go to’s. Check out her website for so many more goodies! NakedEarthEsScentials.com

Curly Punk Style

I have the curliest hair (thanks mom) and I used to HATE it. I would burn it to its core every day to achieve the sleek look but to my disadvantage it would always just curl right back. I didn’t give up though. I continued to destroy my hair because I was so unsatisfied with my vivacious curls. My mom was right back then when she said, “the older you get, the less you care.” Fast forward years later, present day, I hardly ever put heat on my hair now. I embrace my curls aka I’m too lazy to style my hair these days so curly hair don’t care it is!

I used mostly all Alexis Vogel makeup products for this look.

Shirt- TJ Maxx

Manic Mermaid Monday

It’s a rainy day here in Nashville so when Mondays are just to manic to bear, wear a mermaid shirt and call it a day. I am a mermaid so naturally I have a lot of mermaid decor, clothes, and an actual mermaid tail. I also have friends that accept me for my mermaid ways and one of my great friends bought me this shirt at Goodwill because she knew it would speak to my soul (it did).

Mermaid shirt– Goodwill

Bomber jacket- Molly Green

Pair with high top Converse (any color would look great) and a lace chocker!

I’ve been MIA lately but I’ve been very busy with work and also decluttering my apartment. My boyfriend and I were going to buy a house here in Nashville but have decided to stay in our apartment one more year after failing to find a house that we both would fall in love with. We are going to try next year (maybe) but we love where we live now so we are happy with our decision.

I have next on the blog a review of some handcrafted spa products from Naked Earth EsScentials, so stay tuned!

I was told by a random I was a, “hipster”

The titles weird, right? These last few years I’ve been told regurarly I dress, “hipster.” I’m ok with it I guess besides it being so cliche. Not that being hipster is wrong if that’s how you want to dress. I just prefer to dress however I feel and not really give it a name. My best friend came up with my favorite style label though which is, “rocker chic.” BUT the point of this post is dress however you want and who cares what title people give it. Give yourself your own style label or don’t lol. Do you booboos. Check out my “hipster” (rocker chic) look. ;p
